I'm left with so many questions and the author holds all the answers. It still would have been shocking and powerful.Įven with that said, I am looking forward to the next book in this epic fantasy. What made it disappointing was the fact that Auren was able to do something so powerful afterwards that it made me ask why did the author write it that way? I would of felt more satisfaction if Auren saved her while revealing a part of what she is capable of. There is a non-consensual sex scene (there is a warning in the author's note) where I was hoping the female lead, Auren, would be able to save another female character but it did not happen. My only negative remark would be at the end. I absolutely love and appreciate the world building in this book. It contains mystery and intrigue with many twists and turns that keeps you reading. However, this book is a standout! The blurb doesn't do it justice. In Highbell, in the castle built into the frozen mountains, everything is made of gold. Gold floors, gold walls, gold furniture, gold clothes. She is talented, a great story teller and her characters come to life. Gild (The Plated Prisoner Series Book 1) by Raven Kennedy Blurb The fae abandoned this world to us. I've read books by this author in the past and I've really enjoyed them.
